Big names leaving Microsoft after new CEO steps in

Written by

Reading time is around minutes.

As part of the major reorganization of staff within Microsoft launched by new CEO Satya Nadella, several significant changes have been announced. By the end of this week the founder of Skype, Tony Bates and marketing director Tami Reller are expected to abandon the company.

Both have so far held high management positions at Microsoft, Reller in marketing and Bates in the product development department. For now, no one knows the reason for this sudden change, but it is clear that this is a reshuffling implemented by the new executive director, to organize these associates according to his wishes.

Temporarily the current Bates' function should be filled by Eric Rudder from the strategic department, while a longtime marketing expert Chris Capossela should take Reller's place. Bates will reportedly leave the company immediately because Nadel said that he could not commit to long-term work being done, and Tami Reller will reportedly remain in the company for some time and help in handing over her duties to a successor.
