Reading time is around minutes.

There is no longer any doubt - Google has conquered the market of mobile phones. According to the analysis of Strategy Analytics, Android in the third quarter held a record share of 81.3% globally. On an annual basis this represents an additional growth from 75 percent share, which means there was a total of 204.4 million Ansroid based devices shipped this year.

Interestingly, Apple's share in the same period decreased from 15.6% they had last year to 13.4%, despite the increase in supply. Specifically, during the quarter, Apple shipped nearly 34 million iPhones, which is an increase from last year's 27 million. Of course, Apple still achieved the highest profit per unit sold, but the fact remains - the market share is slipping from their hands.

Thanks to the good sales of Nokia Lumia in the lower segment, Windows Phone has achieved nearly doubled share and currently is the fastest growing platform. In the third quarter of last year, their share is on a global level was 2.1%, and this year is 4.1%. Deliveries of Windows Phone devices have been increased from 3.7 million to a record 10.2 million during the quarter.
