Pre-Order Wolfenstein: The New Order and get access to DOOM Beta... sort of.

Reading time is around minutes.

If you have been into gaming for a long (VERY long) time you might remember two games that kicked off the first person shooter craze; Doom and Castle Wolfenstein. Between these two games a genre and gaming style was kicked off. Both games have also enjoyed success with different releases as graphics technology and other development tools have improved over the years although we have seen more from the Doom horde than we have from the mutants at the Castle.

Now all of that is changing with the pre-orders of Wolfenstein: The New Order hitting pre-order status today. The new game was first announced back in 2008 and to many it seemed like it would be another Duke Nukem Forever. The full launch date for the game is March 20th and as an added bonus you can get a BETA invite to Doom.

The combination of these two iconic games is sure to drive up sales which is good for publisher Bethesda. However, there is a down side to this (before you get all excited). It seems that the DOOM BETA is not established yet. In the FAQs it says:

“Although you’ll receive the DOOM beta key code with your copy of Wolfenstein: The New Order, the DOOM beta won’t begin until a later, yet-to-be announced date. We will contact you with news and updates surrounding the start of the DOOM beta via the email address provided during the key code redemption process.”

So you won’t be getting into DOOM any time soon. On the other side though you will have access to Wolfenstein on the 20th of May which is not a bad thing at all. You can expect Bethesda to release for all major platforms on the 20th as well. You can check out a new trailer while you are getting out your money.
