Sony plans to deliver 65 million smartphones next year

Sony Mobile Communications are planning to deliver 65 million smartphones in the next fiscal year, which will last from April 2014 to March of 2015. According to sources in the company's procurement department it is an increase of 55% compared to the anticipated delivery of 42 million units in the current fiscal year.

In addition to devices based on chips from Qualcomm, Sony Mobile plans to use chips from company MediaTek, which are mostly used in the smartphones intended for Chinese market.

Also, for the 2014. they planned the release of a smartphone based on the Firefox operating system, which will be the base model aiming at the mid-range segment of devices at emerging markets. This one could certainly include mentioned MediaTek chips, which are a lot cheaper than the Qualcomm ones, so we can expect the devices based on this chip at a very affordable prices.
