Nokia's workers protesting against Microsoft

Written by

Reading time is around minutes.

After the Nokia's shareholders on Tuesday approved a take over of Nokia's department in charge of mobile phones by Microsoft, Nokia's factory workers in China, about 5,000 of them, have begun to protest against the agreement.

Specifically, workers are protesting about the new contract, and they claim that they were forced to sign it once it was handed to them after the announcement of Microsoft's acquisition. In these contracts certain workers rights are reduced, and after Microsoft's takeover they should also have lower incomes.

Nokia representatives just announced that they are in negotiations with the workers, but did not promise any changes in the disputed contracts.
