The devices will carry Visualant’s patented Spectral Pattern Matching (“SPM”) technology, which captures a Spectral Signature of minuscule color characteristics and properties in matter that are invisible to the naked eye. Unlike heavy and fragile spectrometers, Visualant’s low-cost scanning instruments can be discretely installed and customized to fit anywhere, providing safe, non-invasive, diagnostic and authentication solutions.

“This is a major milestone in Visualant’s history, as our patented technology now comes to life in state-of-the-art devices manufactured by Sumitomo Precision Products,” said Visualant’s CEO Ron Erickson. “In parallel, we are developing mobile apps enabling consumers to use the technology to improve their lives in exciting ways.”

Potential applications of this pragmatic and timely technology include:

-       Health: detection of disease markers in body fluids (Blood, Saliva, Urine) or from skin appearance.
-       Cosmetics: skin tone assessment.
-       Security: ID and pass key badge verification.
-       Forgery prevention: verification of papers and inks in currency and financial instruments.
-       Product protection: creation of invisible barcodes on products or packaging.
-       Drugs: identification of prescription and illicit drugs.
-       Quality control: detection of contaminants such as water in jet fuel, or toxic chemicals in food.
-       Environment: measurement of pollution and hazardous emissions.

Visualant, with its development partner Sumitomo Precision Products, are developing a new class of products, enabling Spectral Pattern Matching to become part of our everyday lives.

About Visualant, Inc. (OTCBB: VSUL)

Visualant, Inc. develops a unique patented Spectral Pattern Matching “SPM” technology. This technology directs structured light onto a physical substance to capture a unique spectral signature. When matched against existing databases, the Spectral Signature can identify, detect, or diagnosis markers invisible to the human eye. SPM scanners can be integrated into a variety of mobile or fixed-mount form factors, making it possible to effectively conduct analyses in the field that could only previously be performed by large and expensive lab–based tests.

Visualant entered into a one year Joint Development Agreement on May 31, 2012 with Sumitomo Precision Products Co., Ltd. (“SPP”) which focuses on the commercialization of the SPM technology and a License Agreement providing SPP with an exclusive license of the SPM technology in identified Asian territories. For more information, visit: www.visualant.net

SPP is publicly traded on the Tokyo and Osaka Stock Exchanges and has operations in Japan, United States, China, United Kingdom, Canada and other parts of the world. Additional information on SPP is available at http://www.spp.co.jp/English/index2-e.html

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Lian Li Debuts Two New Full Tower Cases – PC-A75X & PC-A76X

Holding the Maximum Hardware in Two Sleek Styles

12 September 2012, Keelung, Taiwan - Lian-Li Industrial Co. Ltd, today announces two new brushed aluminum full tower chassis – PC-A75X & PC-A76X. These two new HPTX supporting chassis while having the same internal design offer two different aesthetic styles to fit your personal preference.

Two Aesthetic Styles
Whether you prefer a front panel with visible ventilation or a more monolithic design, these two new 585mm (23”) tall and 220mm (8.6”) wide chassis will fit your style while holding the hardware you desire.

The PC-A75X's vented front panel allows cool air to be easily pulled into the chassis, and the two 5.25” bays are easily accessible from the front. The front panel of the PC-A75X is also tool-lessly removable.

For those who prefer a more monolithic design, the PC-A76X has a lockable solid aluminum front bezel door covering the fans and 5.25” bays. Vents on the side of the door and bottom of the chassis ensure that cool air is pulled into the case, while still keeping its elegant design.

Hardware Capabilities
The hardware capabilities of the PC-A75X and PC-A76X are identical and staggering. Both of these HPTX supporting cases can hold up to twelve 3.5” HDDs and up to three 2.5” SSDs using the 3.5” bays. The drives are easily installed thanks to included anti-vibration mounts and a tool-less sliding lock to fix the hard drives into position.

Three 140mm fans blow cool air directly across the hard drive bay, and a 120mm fan at the rear of the chassis pulls the hot air out. The PC-A75X and PC-A76X both have the capabilities for two 120mm fans on the top and the side of the chassis for DIY builders looking for even more cooling options. Water cooling is also supported with two rubber grommets in the rear.

These two new full tower Lian Li cases both have eleven expansion slots and can hold expansion cards up to 360mm (14.1”) in length. An arm helps to stabilize and secure longer, heavier expansion cards.

CPU coolers up to 170mm high are supported, and the motherboard tray has a large CPU cutout so to support CPU cooler backplates. Additionally, several rubber grommets on the tray allow for simplified cable management.

Power supplies up to 360mm (14.1”) in length can be placed in the bottom compartment. Ventilation slits underneath the PSU with a removable pull-out filter help increase the life and performance of the power supply.

There are two USB 3.0, two USB 2.0 and HD audio ports on the I/O panel located on the top of the chassis so not to take away from the sleek styles.

The PC-A75X and PC-A76X both come in black, inside and out, for the suggested retail price of US$199 and US$219, respectively (tax not included).

IDF 2012 Opening Keynote - Haswell, Windows 8 & More

Written by

This morning Intel kicked off the corporations 15th Intel Developer Forum (IDF) with an opening keynote that was given by David Perlmutter. More than 4,500 attendees are expected from around the world this week to see what Intel is planning for the future. During this keynote Intel introduced the Haswell microarchitecture and even showed it running the Heaven DX11 benchmark utility!

"Intel showed a slide that said Haswell will have uncompromised performance, all day use and greater than 10 days of connected standby. This all adds up to a mainstream notebook that has a connected standby power that is 20x better than we what we had in 2011 with the ‘Sandy Bridge’ architecture. The slide also said that Intel is targeting 2013 to launch Haswell, which supports the rumored Q2 2013 launch time frame..."

Written by

The Define R4, by Fractal Design, is a modern day mid-tower chassis that comes in three color variations, Black, Titanium, White, and it just happens to be fairly large in size. Now we need to ask our selves one simple question, "Does the Define R4 chassis have what it takes to become a great chassis, or does it fall short"? So lets go ahead and step inside to see what the Black Define R4 mid-tower chassis has to offer us.

"The Fractal Design Define R4 chassis is what I consider to be the pinnacle of how a mid-tower chassis is supposed to be like. Prolimatech, the maker of the popular Megahalem CPU cooler, has introduced two new Thermal Interfacing Materials (TIM) the PK2, and PK3 thermal compounds. Do these to new thermal compounds have what it takes to compete with the best thermal compounds on the market today? Only one way to find out, and that is to step inside and see how they perform against a couple of best known TIMs in the computing world, the Gelid GC-Extreme, and the Antec Formula 7.

"When we look at the cost of the Prolimatech PK3 thermal paste/compound and compare that directly to the cost of Gelid's GC-Extreme thermal paste/compound, we start to see the value of the PK3 thermal paste/compound. Gelid's GC-Extreme thermal paste comes in a 3.5g volume tube that has a cost of $12.99, which ends up being $3.71 per gram. When we do the same to Prolimatech's PK3 with a volume of 5g at a cost of $14.99 we end up having a cost of just about $3 per gram..."

Cooler Master Launches Improved Silent Pro Hybrid PSUs

Written by
Silent Pro Hybrid

Silent Pro Hybrid Series

Chino, California – September 7th, 2012 - Cooler Master, an industry leading chassis, thermal solution, peripheral, and accessory manufacturer, is proud to announce that the world’s first in power supply technologies, the high end Silent Pro Hybrid 1300W, has now been improved to offer even more value and quality.

Extended Warranty

Cooler Master carefully selects high quality and durable components to build its Silent Pro Hybrid. Showing that we fully stand by this, the warranty has been doubled to provide a full 10 years of coverage from date of purchase for the updated Silent Pro Hybrid 1300W in the United States. Ensuring that all of these owners can partake in this new addition, the warranty extension also applies retroactively to those Silent Pro Hybrids that were purchased prior to this announcement.

Premium Individually Sleeved Cables

Cooler Master has a reputation as a company that keeps an open and accessible presence across popular enthusiast forums. This is where fans, and critics, can provide their input. Cooler Master listens and strives to help find a mutually beneficial solution to each issue. Answering one of these calls, the improved Silent Pro Hybrid 1300W power supply model will include a full set of premium individually sleeved modular cables that will add that extra touch of professionalism to an otherwise flawless build.

About Silent Pro Hybrid Series

Silent Pro Hybrid Series includes the features that many enthusiasts demand such as full control over cable management with fully modular cables, over 90% efficiency with 80Plus Gold Certification, noise-free operation, and other value-added features that ensure these users get the most out of their purchase.

Direct Fan Control

With a power supply integrated 7V fan power port and included 5.25” drive bay fan controller module, the Silent Pro Hybrid Series removes the middleman by taking an unnecessary load off of the motherboard. This direct connection between power supply and fan controller provides the user with immediate on-the-fly control over the 135mm Super Silent Hydraulic Bearings power supply fan and up to 3 other system fans. The power and system fan speeds are adjusted independently via two dials. Users may determine the level of control they would like to wield by switching between automatic and manual modes for the power supply fan.

Noise-free Operation

The first to offer a “fanless” mode, the Silent Pro Hybrid Series eliminates unneeded fan noise. The power supply fan can be completed turned off to essentially operate as if it were fanless. This mode persists until loads become greater than 200W. At this point, a safe mode will activate the fan and cool according to the level of the load.

Price and Availability

The Silent Pro Hybrid Series will come in 850W, 1050W, and 1300W models. The updated 1300W model will be available in September, 2012. This press release is meant for the United States only. For more information, please consult your local Cooler Master Representative.
