Sailfish OS alpha version for Nexus 4

Written by

Reading time is around minutes.

The company behind the Sailfish operating system released the first alpha version that can be installed on the Android device. Since this is alpha version, installation is not available for a large number of devices, and is only available for one, LG's Nexus 4, while the version for the Samsung Galaxy S III LTE (i9305) is still in preparation.

Also not all functions are available, so the phone can not be used for everyday use. Some of the essential functions of the alpha version which do not work are camera, various sensors, watching videos, voice calls and Bluetooth. On the other hand, you can freely send text messages and use mobile Internet.

If you're interested in testing how a mobile operating system that can run a web (HTML5) and Android application works, installation instructions can be found on the company's official website.
