The long-awaited presentation of Samsung Galaxy S4 finally happened. Samsung in New York officially unveiled their new model about which we already knew a lot of details due to soany leaks of information on it lately.

Let's start with what is of most interest to majority, the specifications. The device will be available from April 26th in the UK. Samsung will come in 327 countries and on 155 operators. The device will be sold in white and blue colored casing.

Dimensions of the device are 136.6x69.8x7.9mm, while it weighs only 130 grams. Display is 4.99" Full HD Super AMOLED with 441 ppi and for the protection of it is Samsung used Gorilla glass 3. Processor will be Exynis 5 Octa with 4 Cortex A15 cores running at 1.6 GHz and 4 Cortex A7 cores running at 1.2GHz. It has 2 gigabyte of DDR3 ram and PowerVR SGX 544MP3 GPU processor ticking at 533 MHz. It will come in 16, 32 and 64 GB versions. Rear camera has 13 MP and is capable of recording 1080p video, same as the front one with 2 MP resolution. The cameras has a neat feature of taking pictures from both sides at the same time. It is capable of achieving LTE speed of up to 100mbps. Battery has a 2600 mAh capacity, and can be charged without wires. It will all run on Android 4.2.

You can see from the pictures that Galaxy S4 design differs minimally from its predecessor. With less rounded corners, it is evident that the edge of the casing is thinner and therefore occupies more screen area. Housing is, as expected, made from polycarbonate, but aluminum frame is also present.
Overall, Galaxy S4 is nothing too innovative. Samsung used the old design and upgraded the S3 with top hardware and software solutions, and now they have the top smartphone once again. Now we wait for the other manufacturers for their move.

[Ed – The launch of the Galaxy S IV was also not that great and has been criticized as being sexist and rather poorly executed. I do not think that this will hurt sales of the device as it does represent a new phone in a lineup that has caught the imagination of the consumer and business market.  ]
