Dropbox gets Vimeo support
Today Dropbox and Vimeo decided to team up and allow Dropbox users to directly upload their videos to Vimeo from their Dropbox folder. Besides that one very simple, but yet so often missed feature, they are also providing the ability to pause an upload in case you cannot upload it all at once. ”Integration within Dropbox is something our community wanted for a while,” said Vimeo CEO Kerry Trainor, and with this collaboration they will try to give more popularity to Vimeo, an alternative to the most popular video hosting service Youtube.
Valve entering non-gaming software field
The Company that is behind the Steam download platform is set to open its distribution system to non-gaming software. They stated that “... the first set of software titles is heading to Steam, marking a major expansion to the platform most commonly known as a leading destination for PC and Mac games.”. The change was made becasue our customers requested it, Mark Richardson, Valve’s business development representative said “The 40 million gamers frequenting Steam are interested in more than playing games, They have told us they would like to have more of their software on Steam, so this expansion is in response to those customer requests.”
Wozniak reluctant to use the Cloud
From the very beginning it was certain that the main concern about Cloud computing would be security. No one can feel comfortable about placing his private data in remote storage, no matter how high of a security level is promised by the service provider. This weekend we could see security issues coming into the spotlight as Gizmodo's twitter feed god hacked, after one of their former writers, Mat Honan, had his Cloud penetrated by a group calling themselves Clan W3. They sent racist and offensive tweets to around 415,000 followers, luckily Gizmodo managed to quickly regain control of it's account.
Google Drive Signaling the End of Microsoft Office? Umm No.
Understandably the news has been filled with information on Google’s new product. We have heard about their typical tendency to copy and paste their terms of service along with how it is going to kill Dropbox and other storage providers. Along with these we have even heard how Google drive is signaling the death of Microsoft Office… ummm hang on a bit there. The death of what?
Google Tries to Own All Of Your Data With Google Drive... Just Like it Did with Chrome
There is a huge amount of traffic on Google’s new Google drive cloud storage system. There are predictions from “they will kill Drop Box and Sky Drive” to it will fail. So this is pretty much your average launch of a new Google product. One of the things that has made the rounds yesterday we were not surprised by (and frankly are shocked that other media outlets are surprised by this), this is the terms of service that seem to indicate that anything you put on Google drive belongs to Google.
