Intel Could Launch Haswell-E in September
Published in Leaks and Rumors

Right after the launch of the Haswell Refresh named Devil’s Canyon we are starting to hear the rumors about Haswell-E CPUs. The going rumor now is that Intel will drop this new CPU complete with DDR4 support in September of this year (2014). If this is true that means we will see some new boards as well. We have been hearing about the X99 chipset for a while now and we might see another repeat of the “leak” that we saw with the Z97. We just wonder which partner will do the leaking this time.

According to sources coming from the company itself, Intel will during the third quarter of this year add support for DDR memory 4 of the new generation. New DDR 4 memory is developed for a long time, specifically over five years.

According to information coming from Samsung, new Green DDR4 memory should be available by August next year. Compared to the existing DDR3 memory operating at speeds of 1866 MHz, the new DDR4 memory will maintain a speed of 2133 MHz. With the increased speed some of the main advantages of Samsung's Green DDR4 modules will include increased reliability and lower energy requirements.

Micron-technology2During our coverage of Intel’s Ivy Bridge and in particular our coverage of Asus’ Z77 based motherboards we mentioned that Asus was already starting to use a new tracing layout to deal with increasing memory speeds. The new memory they were working towards was not only DDR3 (up to 3200MHz) but also DDR4. It is a good thing they have already started working on this as we now hear that Micron has working DDR4 memory modules.
