The rush of American consumers to online shops in the last days before Christmas apparently surprised the traders . Despite numerous analyisis and statistics, it seems that companies like Amazon and Wal -Mart, and courier service such as UPS as well, failed to accurately predict the amount of sales that will occur this year.

Box, one of the most popular service for storing data in the cloud, has collected about $100 million of fresh investment capital, according to company's CEO Aaron Levie. In search for investors they turned to Europe, Japan, Australia and Latin America, since these are regions where they are planning to expand their business. After collecting this amount, the value of the company is estimated at about $2 billion.

According to research by the University of Southern California, Google has in the past year has dramatically increased the number of locations around the world from which serves queries to its search engine.

One of the most popular web browser, Google Chrome, just became available in his 30th edition. In this update, the company said, will improve the experience of browsing the web both on Android and the desktop version.

Verizon and a few other broadband companies are out to alter the way you view content on the internet. Ever since the FCC (Federal Communication Commission) put regulations in place to prevent broadband providers from block, throttling or altering content as it passes over their networks (2010) these companies have been fighting back. They argue that the regulation prevent internet expansion and investment. They would like to be able to broker deals with websites and content providers to provide them with different levels of access at different price scales. The FCC feels this type of behavior is anti-consumer and wants to make sure that all content is treated equally.

The fight against child pornography was announced earlier this week, and British Prime Minister called for the cooperation of internet service providers, operators of wireless networks and the authors of a web browsers to help filter the content of child abuse.

Mozilla has released a new version of their Internet browser, which should bring a number of improvements related to performance and support for Internet standards.
