If you have been on the internet at all the last few days you have probably seen all of the articles about how great DirectX 12 is and why it will be a game changer. To be fair the next version of DirectX is looking like it is a massive refinement of the API and one that should bring about some nice benefits to the gamer… the PC gamer. For years many game developers have not made full use of the features and options in the DirectX (DX) API simply because of the extra CPU, GPU and other types of power needed to push these enhancements around the board.

In what should not have been a surprise to anyone, NVIDIA launched their own tablet today. This new tablet is part of their mobile gaming initiative and is a smart move considering some of the setbacks NVIDIA has had when dealing with the mobile industry.

Titanfall developer, Respawn is apparently looking into the world of mobile gaming and… *Gasp* Free to Play. This new information was dropped on us during an interview with Respawn COO Dusty Welch shortly after they announced Stig Asmussen was coming onboard. According to Welch Asmussen will not only be working on the future of Titanfall, but also working on where the company will be heading.

Playing slots on mobile phones isn’t something new. But being able to play slot machines on your smartgadget outside New Jersey and Nevada – the only states in the US that allow online gambling – is something that can change the face of casino gaming forever.

As we are approaching June, the media is speculatinh about the possible innovations that will be presented at this year's E3. The atmosphere is heated up by the publishers themselves who are publishing ambiguous statements like Nintendo who will broadcast a press conference live over the Internet.

Quite unexpectedly, Rovio Entertainment has its franchise Angry Birds turned in a new direction. Next game from this mega-popular series will belong to a RPG genre with the turn based combat.

Flappy Bird is irritatingly difficult, yet addictive game. For some time it was available for the mobile platforms, but the author decided to move it from all the official stores a month ago.

Recently we received news that Valve will release a movie about eSports and one of their most famous games, Dota 2. And now it looks like this could become a trend, because we have another movie about Minecraft in preparation.

If it weren’t for my early years with JT (Jack Tramiel) during the Atari era, I probably wouldn’t track video games – mobile, console or PC. But it’s amazing to see how much broader the industry is today.

Nintendo has released their quarterly business results which show that in the three months that ended in late June they only sold 160,000 pieces of their game console Wii U.
