There is a perception that to enjoy brilliant tablet gaming you have to pay big bucks – but that is not the case. There are tablets at every price that can give you this; you just need to find the right specs at the right price for you.
In what should not have been a surprise to anyone, NVIDIA launched their own tablet today. This new tablet is part of their mobile gaming initiative and is a smart move considering some of the setbacks NVIDIA has had when dealing with the mobile industry.
Today Intel showed off the world first 14nm CPU in the form of the Core M processor. This new chip is geared to be squeezed into ultrabooks, tablets and convertables. The CPU was shown in Asus’ new Transformer T300 Chi. According to Intel this new CPU range will be the most energy efficient they have ever built. We do not have any additional information on the Core M at this time, but we do know it is the first of the Broadwell CPUs and it is also more than likely one of their BGA style CPUs which is hard mounted to the motherboard.
The company IDC announced this week that the deliveries of tablets in the 2014 were worse than expected, primarily due to the rise in popularity of smartphones with big screen (phablets). New revised forecasts now claim that by the end of this year will be supplied 245 million tablets (previous forecast predicted the delivery of 260 million tablets).
Microsoft is a company with some serious identity issues, at least they have become a company with identity issues. It seems that they do not really know where they want to be or where they belong. Looking back at their history it seems that ever since they built their own gaming console Microsoft has begun to think of themselves as a hardware company more than a software development company. This was probably not the best thing for them to do or to think.
Back when nVidia first launched the original Tegra SoC CEO Jen-Hsun Huang stated that it would change the face of media players, phones and tablets. He fully expected Tegra to become more than 50% of nVidia’s business (revenue) and put the green team to work making that happen. After a few months of hearing about the advantages of Tegra I was finally able to put one to the test in the form of the now-gone ZuneHD. Lenovo has unveiled four new Android tablets from its cheapest A-series. These devices come with screen diagonal of 7, 8, and 10.1 inches, which will appear on the market during the second quarter of this year, and suggested retail prices are ranging from £99.
South Korean company Samsung has officially unveiled three new tablets from the new Galaxy Tab 4 generation. These are devices that have the screens with diagonals of 7, 8 and 10.1 inches. All models differ only in the size of the screen, the available space for storage and battery. Other specifications are identical, each device has a screen resolution of 1280x800 pixels, quad core processor, 1.5 GB of RAM, 3 megapixel rear and 1.3 megapixel front camera, Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS. The operating system on all devices is Android 4.4. KitKat.
Nokia at the global level received a patent for his invention described as a flexible batteries. According to the description, mentioned batteries should be able to wrap around one axis, and will be manufactured for installation in a “multifunctional portable electronic devices.”
