Windows 10 Pirate Edition Update... Things are just as confusing.
So, remember that comment Microsoft made about upgrading non-genuine version of Windows 7 and 8.x to Windows 10? Well we finally have some more information on that. Sadly the new information causes more confusion than it clears up. According to Microsoft the non-genuine upgrades will “not be supported by Microsoft or a trusted partner”. This is interesting as we do not know of any pirate that has ever gone to Microsoft or a trusted partner for help with their illegal copy of Windows.
Windows 10 Upgrade Could be Free, Even for Pirated Copies
Microsoft is making a bold move with Windows 10 and we are not just talking about a redesign of the OS here. It seems that they would really like people to move from Windows 7 and 8.x to Windows 10. To entice you they are offering free upgrades to anyone with a qualifying system. What makes things even more interesting is that there is talk that the upgrade will even be available to non-genuine versions of Windows. This last bit is very much out of pattern for Microsoft, but we have a pretty good idea of why they are doing it.
P2P update engine seen in leaked copy of the latest Windows 10 build... what are they thinking?
Despite a valiant attempt to label P2P transfers and BitTorrent as the devil Microsoft and others are looking to move this direction for updates and other services. In the latest build of Windows 10 the new P2P updating mechanism was found hiding out as an option in the code. Fortunately Microsoft does give you a few options when it comes to this new feature.
New Windows 10 Technical Preview Hides a Keylogger This Time
As the world gets all excited about some of the new “features” in Windows 10 there are some in the press (and consumers) that are less than thrilled about them. We are talking about Cortana and some of the predictive typing tools and features that Microsoft has embedded and how they really work. On the surface the concept of predictive text and searches is a pretty neat idea. After you type something in, or search for a topic your system will build a small database of information to help you find those things again.
Another game title is axed as Prey 2 is canceled, is this a trend?
I do not know if it just me or if there is something else happening, but there seems to be a lot of “long awaited” games getting the axe because they are just not good enough. The latest in the recent string of titles is Prey 2. Although this one will come as no surprise considering the history of problems with the game and comments made from publishers and developers, it is still interesting considering some of the other projects that have been cut suddenly.
Suspected Windows 10 Spying Will Impact Future Sales
Microsoft had a brief moment in the sun with the release of Windows 10 after the less than stellar market performance of Windows 8.x. However, it seems they are determined to make sure that they screw things up as it was uncovered that the EULA (End User License Agreement) for the Windows 10 Technical Preview allowed them access to a little more than they would usually need for a Beta program.
Microsoft Announces Windows 10 and Brings us What Windows 8 Should Have Been
Microsoft announced their next version of Windows yesterday and the world focused on one thing: the name. While it is true that the decision to jump from Windows 8 to Windows 10 was an unusual one, it certainly should not be what we all focus on. After all Microsoft is known for rather glaring PR and Marketing errors, so why should a clumsy name really be news worthy?
Free Windows 9 Upgrade Rumors Might Be Way Over Stated
As the clock ticks down to today’s “launch” of Microsoft’s next operating system the rumors are ramping up along with the articles about what Microsoft must do to make the next flavor of Windows work. One of the latest rumors to hit the streets is that Windows 9 (or whatever it will be called) will be free if you have Windows 8.x installed legally. These rumors started to circulate a couple of weeks ago, but now there is an alleged confirmation from the president of Microsoft Indonesia, Andreas Diantoro.
Window 9 Start Menu Allegedly Shown Off in Leaked Video
As the title of this article suggests there is another new video on the internet that claims to show the Windows 9 menu and how it all works. The appearance of the video comes on the heels of more than one alleged screen shot and some other items that have leaked from Microsoft themselves. As we all know Microsoft has a lot riding on the next version of Windows simply because of the lack of consumer acceptance that Windows 8.x has had.
Windows Start Menu to be in a Windows 8 Update? The Saga Continues…
After hearing from Microsoft that the world would not see the true start menu back until the Redmond team decides to push Windows 9 out the door we are hearing a new rumor that a future update for Windows 8.x will have it. This is surprising as it appeared that CEO Satya Nadella was almost trying to distance himself from Windows 8.x and many of the items that were Ballmer centric pushes.
