The Uplay service recently opened their gates to companies like Electronic Arts, Warner Bros, Interactive, Telltale Game and Bohemia Interactive. “At Uplay we are also offering all Ubisoft titles, more console content and elements that gamers are more interested in. It's about offering more options and more choice“ Perotti said.

Ubisoft has figured out that the rigorous DRM protection (for which the Uplay was the key) was somewhat exaggerated in September last year. Their current titles, such as Assassin's Creed 3, no longer require a permanent connection with the Uplay servers, but only the initial activation. Stephanie Perotti says that they are satisfied with the quality of their current PC titles such as Far Cry 3 and Assassin's Creed 3, and will continue to monitor the feedback of the users.

[Ed – We hope to see other companies move to get rid of some of the massively restrictive DRM measures they have used in the past. However, there are some rumors that this new trend might be due to some rather aggressive monitoring by ISPs… We hope that is not the case and that we will really see improvements in Ubisoft’s Uplay moving forward.]
