Technology and Zombies Don't Mix
![]() |
If you're like most gamers, the thought of the impending zombie apocalypse has probably crossed your mind. Where would you go? How would you get food? Where would you meet up with your loved ones? How would you avoid becoming infected? How would you do this without technology? All great questions to ask.
The Video Game Industry, Just How Big Is It?
![]() |
How big is the Video Game Industry? About 10.5 Billion dollars a year (in 2009), according to the ESRB. Only .5 Billion or so came from computer game sales, leaving the other 10 Billion or so to come mostly from dedicated game consoles. This data accounts for both new and used video game purchases, as well as rentals. According to figures from September, 2012, about half of the video game market is digital, rental, or used sales.
Apple's iPad Mini uses... Samsung parts?
![]() |
Often times consumers are duped into the allure of Apple on the grounds that they are supposedly getting superior product. There is an assumption that because it is an “Apple” product, rather than Android or any other competitor, it is made out of superior parts. What if customers found out that the differences between these products are really only skin deep?
Social Media Helps During A Disaster
![]() |
By now, everyone has heard of Hurricane Sandy, dubbed by some a “Franken-storm”, which has plunged much of the East coast into chaos. Millions upon millions of civilians lost access to power, and as NYC flooded, many were forced to evacuate. There were hundreds of thousands of calls, round the clock, to emergency lines like 911. Too many calls for many people to get through without waiting for a long period of time, so, some citizens took a less common approach to getting help.

Cluttered Desktop got you down? You could take a few minutes to temporarily fix your icons by moving them to various corners, or maybe making a folder or two. But making a folder requires an extra click, maybe more if you nest the folder inside another folder. Moving the icons to set areas of the screen can help, but what happens when you install more programs, or move other files there? Your desktop can only hold so many icons before you run out of space!
Star Wars Episode... 7?
![]() |
A fan of the 'Force'? Well, you now have reason to rejoice! Or maybe to shudder. Disney has bought out Lucas Films, giving them exclusive rights to the Star Wars franchise. They paid about 4 billion dollars to acquire Lucas Films. With George Lucas, the founder, having retired from the film making business, having a large firm such as Disney carry on the work was one of the few options for fans ever seeing new Star Wars content.
Google and LG’s Nexus 4 Won't Have LTE
![]() |
Google's upcoming phone, the Nexus 4 will launch at an extremely competitive price of $299.00 with no contract. How did they get the price so low? Part of the answer is its lack of America's favorite 4G network, LTE. That's correct, it will be a 3G/WIFI only device. It will lauch with Android 4.2, and a quad core Snapdragon 1.5 Ghz processor, which will make processing material on the phone quite fast. But, anything that needs to be downloaded will be at roughly the same speeds users experience on their networks now with their current smart phones.
How To Allocate more RAM to Minecraft
![]() |
Minecraft is set at a default of around 512 MB of RAM allocated to it, as this is the default set by Java. This is plenty for some activities in the game, but can result in poor performance on certain systems, especially during prolonged play, as the game will attempt to cache data on the hard drive of your computer once the RAM usage hits a certain percent. Entry level laptops now typically come with 4 GB of DDR3 RAM so there is no sense in not using more of it to power the game!

Opinion: Yahoo News is Irrelevant
![]() |
Once nearly ubiquitous, Yahoo has been losing ground to more successful companies such as CNN, FOX, and other media outlets. This might just be due to their lack of variety in stories. True, they have several different sections, like sports, weather, local, etc, however, the one I am most interested in is Tech, as are many of the current and upcoming generations.
