Blackberry slips past Windows Phone in the US

According to research firm comScore, which refers to the state of the market in January of this year, Windows Phone is the third mobile platform in the U.S. It 's another marketing company that has confirmed third place for Microsoft's mobile operating system after IDC who did it back in May of 2013.

Windows Phone has recorded a 3.2 % share among U.S. users, while Blackberry compared to the previous survey fell to fourth place with 3.1 % share. Leading mobile operating system Android is still holding more than half of the market (namely 51.7 %), while in second place comes Apple's iOS with 41.6 % share. As far as the manufacturer of the device, Apple is in lead with a market share of 41.6 %, the second place belongs to Samsung with 26.7 % share, while in third there is another South Korean manufacturer, LG with 6.9 % share. The fourth and fifth in the U.S. were Motorola and HTC.

ComScore also investigated which were the most popular mobile applications among U.S. users.  First place belongs to Facebook (which was present in 77 % of the devices), Google Play (52.4 %), YouTube (49.7 %), Google Search (48 %) and Pandora (46.4 %). The study states that in the U.S. 159.8 million people own a smart phone, which represents 66.8 % of the market of mobile devices.
