The Millenniata Company announced upcoming availability of more capacitive M-Disc products for long-term storage of data. The company, in the second quarter of this year, plans to launch the Blu-ray Disc edition of M-solutions, and the data on the disk will be able to written and read with common Blu-ray optical burner.

The latter is a big improvement over the current DVD M-Disc solutions, on which it was only possible to write the data with special DVD recorders. Instead of an organic layer on which data is written in the classic CD, DVD and Blu-ray discs, Millenniata M-Disc products have special non organic layer for permanent record that is not subject to influences such as high temperature or exposure to UV rays.

According to the company's claims, these discs can keep the information for 1,000 years, and Blu-ray Disc version of the M-product should be more accessible to interested buyers than used to be the case with the DVD version. The discs will be produced by Ritek (DVD and Blu-ray versions), they will also be responsible for distributing them through their sales network. Along with that the company has a distribution agreement with Imation, which will also sell discs under the brand names Imation, TDK and Memorex.
