The LinkedIn Breach Raises Concerns About The Security of Cloud Services

84There is more news about the LinkedIn Data Breach as security firm Sophos reports that roughly 3.5 Million of the hashed passwords have been cracked. Product Ban Requests to the ITC Cause "Substantial Harm" To Consumers Says the FTC

73We have been saying for a number of years now, but the Patent System is broken. Now the FTC might be starting to agree with some of the sentiment that we have been hearing from many media outlets. In a very important move the FTC feels that the continued request for import and sales bans whenever there is a patent dispute is causing “substantial harm” to consumers.

IDC Predicts That Windows Phone Will Pass iOS by 2016 To Grab The Number 2 Spot

windows-phone-7Someone has made a rather bold prediction about Windows Phone. According to the International Data Corp Windows Phone will grab some 14% market share between now and 2016 to become the second most used Mobile Operating system. Now it might interest you to know that this bit of insight also predicts that Android will hit its peak of market share this year and slowly decline. Microsoft's SmartGlass Is Great, But It Will Not Save Windows 8 or Windows Phone *** Update ***

untitledThe secret is out; Microsoft wants to own your whole home with their devices at the center of your connected living space. Of course, this is nothing new. I can remember talking with Microsoft about the “digital home” in 2007 and before. At the time they were looking to build the blocks needed to create an entire (and viable) ecosystem for the home and the enterprise. Of course back then most of Microsoft was still trying to find ways to keeps users data in their own hands. This is something that has changed (because it is not a money maker), but the original concept has remained the same.

Google to Start Issuing Warnings About Possible State-Sponsored Attacks on GMail Accounts; Who Are These For?

Google-LogoIn other “hacking news” two days ago Google announced that it would begin spreading FUD…. I mean warning users about the possibility that their computer systems and Gmail accounts could be under attack by “State-Sponsored” individuals. The new came after recent discoveries that Stuxnet was a US sponsored attack and the widely held belief that Flame is also a state-sponsored bit of malware.
