The company Foxconn (Hon Hai Precision Industry) is preparing an even greater investment in the development of Firefox OS devices than it was originally announced. Mozilla and Foxconn recently officially announced a collaboration to develop a Firefox OS device.

On that occasion, Foxconn announced that in the development of devices and software for Firefox OS will participate between 500 and 1,000 of the company's engineers in Kaohsiung, where are currently employed around 300 of them. New Foxconn plan includes hiring 3,000 engineers for the development of devices, and their work should result in the launch of over five Firefox OS devices by the end of this year.

These devices are smartphones and at least one tablet, but about their specifications, price and precise time of the start of sales we still have no information. Firefox OS mobile devices will not be directly sold by Foxconn but customers will be able to find them in OEM companies offers.

Could we be seeing the end of the Foxconn/Apple partnership? Tell us what you think in our Forum
