Written by

Reading time is around minutes.

IDC announced expectations for the future of the smartphone market. There are no major surprises, but one rather disappointing one is BlackBerry. In fact, analysts predict that the Canadian manufacturer this year will cut their deliveries in half compared to last year. Current year will end with a share of only 0.8%, down from last year's 1.9%, while until the 2018., BlackBerry will drop to 0.3%.

On the other hand, Android foresees a very bright future. This year, the OS will seize 80% of the market, however that is expected to fall by 2018., but Android will continue to keep a very high 77% of the market. Second spot belongs to Apple's iOS - this year with a share of 14.8%, which will fall to 13.7% in the next four years.

The only mobile OS which is projected to grow in the coming period is the Windows Phone. According to IDC, at the end of this year, share of the Microsoft's OS will be 3.5%, and by the 2018. it will grow to 6.4%.
