Every once in a while a new version of the same old rumor about a possible acquisition of RIM appears. According to recent information, Lenovo was interested in the Canadian smartphone manufacturer. So far Amazon and Microsoft have also been mentioned as possible buyers.

But, as in previous cases, this was incorrect information, according to claims from Lenovo. In an interview with Bloomberg last week, the company's CEO gave hope to those who supported the idea of acquisitions and indirectly said that the company was interested in acquiring RIM. Lenovo are now distancing themselves from this statement, and claim that the CEO talked about investments in general, including possible acquisitions.

RIM has the very important launch of the BlackBerry 10 platform, which will happen on Wednesday. Analysts see this platform as RIM's last chance to return to the big society. According to the latest data from IDC, RIM has delivered in the last quarter only 7.7 million smartphones which is an 38% decrease in sales compared to the same period last year.
