The Parx Casino in Pennsylvania is about to launch a new trend. Hoping to attract more young adults into playing slot machines, the casino’s management is thinking of providing its guests with the option to play slot machines from their smartgadgets while hanging out at social lounges with loud music and drinks.

"For whatever reason, young people don't seem to want to sit in a casino at a slot machine," said John Dixon, Chief Technology Officer for Greenwood Gaming, which owns Parx Casino. "But they like to play games on mobile devices. The idea is to create more revenue for us and the state. Our fear is that if we don't start doing something, we're looking at an aging population and falling revenues."

In a blog post by Alchemy Bet, the parent company of online slot provider pocket fruity, it was revealed that mobile gaming is “most popular amongst 25-34 year olds, with 28% of male and 27% of female gamers.” If Parx’s idea gets approval, the mobile gaming feature in the casino could become a hit amongst the younger demographic.

Casino officials from Parx have already submitted their plan to the Gaming Control Board in April, and are hoping to get a reply after three to six months.
Since online casino games are prohibited in the state of Pennsylvania, people would only be able to play them within Parx’s gaming area. To prevent anyone from playing outside the boundaries of the casino, Parx will be using a “Bluetooth Beacon” technology – a device that is capable of shutting off mobile games outside of its allowable range.
