Apple Could Lose the iPad Trademark in China... Plus much more.

introWe warned of this happening back when we first read about the fight between Apple and the Shenzhen China base Proview. It seems that a government official in China is stating that they are backing Proview in this case. A senior official in the State Administration for Industry and Commerce (SAIC) stated that the trademark does currently belong to Proview. This comes as a shock to many especially after Tim Cook’s visit to China recently where it was thought he was trying to win support for Apple in this case.

German Court Says YouTube is Solely Responsible For What Its Users Post

73In what has to be an upset for Google’s YouTube video service German courts found that YouTube was indeed responsible for the copyrighted material posted by users. The findings of the court are frightening in more ways than just the big check that Google will be writing to pay for the Copyright infringement that happened due to users of the popular video service.

400,000+ Still Infected with the Four Year Old DNSChanger Malware; Could Lose Internet on July 8th

safeThere is a lot of talk in the news about a very old piece of malware. This malicious code was called DNSChanger and was part of a criminal enterprise that intended to route people’s traffic through their own servers instead of the intended servers. This opened the victims up to countless other potential infections. The Malware was discovered back in 2004 and had a small amount of fame for its time. The impact of this particular infection was rated into the millions of Windows based PCs. Although the malware was identified and six people were arrested for it, the authorities did not know what to do about the infected systems (which is VERY odd).

Symatec Claims Flahsback Infections Down to 140,000; Dr. Web Says They Are Wrong

14621rotten_appleAlthough it will come as no surprise to anyone really the is now a report stating that Symantec’s estimation of the number of infected Macs with the Flashback Trojan might have been a tad low. You all remember that a couple of weeks ago Apple admitted to the malware and its effect on OSX. They finally released a patch for the affected subsystem (the Java API in Safari) and then released a tool that was supposed to identify and fix infected systems. This was actually after Kaspersky and F-Secure released tools to perform the same task.

Gabe Newell Says; No One at Valve Met With Apple...

news_valve-logoAfter hearing a few rumors that Apple and Valve were going to collaborate on a new enhanced reality gaming product Valve’s CEO Gabe Newell has set the record straight saying “No one here was meeting with Tim Cook or with anybody at Apple that day.” As part of a recent Pod Cast interview with the site Seven Day Cooldown. This news will probably crush both Apple and (some)gaming fans who might have been hoping for some extraordinary to come from these two companies.
