Nexus 5 officially launched

After months of rumors, Google has finally officially unveiled the Nexus 5. The device has a 4.95 inch screen protected by Gorilla Glass 3, and it is produced by LG.

It has an IPS screen with a resolution of 1,920x1,080 pixels and 445 ppi pixel density. Smartphone is based on a quad-core Snapdragon 800 with a clock speed of 2.3 GHz, 2 GB of internal memory, and Adreno 330 graphic chip. The rear camera has a resolution of eight megapixels and optical image stabilization, while the front has a 1.3 megapixel resultion. The device is available in editions of 16 and 32 GB of flash memory (no slot for a microSD card), a 2,300 mAh battery, 8.6 mm thick chassis and a weight of 130 grams. Price on Google's online store is $350, or $400, depending on capacity.

New Nexus 5 is supplied with Android 4.4 KitKat. The new version of Android is aimed at improving the performance of the weaker units by decreasing memory usage. They removed the "unnecessary background services" and "reduced memory consumption for the abilities that are constantly being used." As a result, KitKat will allow more comfortable work on devices with just 512 MB of RAM. It will be possible to activate search function via voice commands, and speech recognition system is now 25% more accurate. Another novelty is the application Hangouts that combines communication via instant messaging, SMS and MMS. Upgrade of the OS will be available on the Nexus line of devices, and Google Play editions of HTC One and Galaxy S4 in a few weeks.
