Nokia to invest in the automotive industry

After the sale of cell phone department to Microsoft, Nokia intends to invest in other technologies. Investment fund Nokia Growth Partners announced at a conference of the Global Mobile Internet Conference that they plan to invest $100 million in the automotive industry.

 Of course, the investment is not related to car manufacturing, but the development of communication and multimedia technologies to deploy in the cars. Nokia will invest the mentioned amount in companies engaged in the development of technologies for new generation cars, for which they believe are the platform as once smartphones were around which number of new applications and services were developed.

The company through division Navteq, specialized in navigation systems, already has a significant share in this industry – around 6,000 Navteq employees are working on the development of maps and navigation technology.
