OCZ Launches the Vector 150 SSD

Written by

Reading time is around minutes.

OCZ in its new 2.5 inch Solid State Drive installed 19nm NAND Flash memory chips and Indilinx Barefoot 3 IC controller. The new Vector 150 comes in capacities of 120, 240 and 480 GB, all that packed in case which is 7 mm thick, making it suitable for installation in the thinnest Ultrabooks. Vector 150 SSD has a SATA III interface and achieves speeds of 550 MB/s when reading data and a bit lower 530 MB/s when writing.

Unlike the original Vector Series, the new Vector 150 includes AES-256 bit encryption for fast and secure data deletion. AES keys can be destroyed by the firmware which will make the data unreadable. Encryption does not affect the performance as it is done on the hardware level .

The package comes with an adapter that allows user to install the SSD in desktop computers and workstations instead of the traditional 3.5-inch hard drives. Additionally, the package includes a full copy of Acronis True Image HD Cloning software and required activation key. Currently it is not known when and at what price will this drives go on sale .
