Reading time is around minutes.

In order to prepare even better for the upcoming launch of Origin on Macs, EA has launched an alpha test booked for several thousand users. The Mac version of Electronic Arts Origin will be available "soon" and EA has started sending invitations for alpha testing of the Mac version of the Origin client.

Alpha testing will be available to a limited number of people, and as a thank you for testing Origin EA will give attendees a free copy of PopCap’s Bookworm. Beside the lack of opportunities for streaming on Twitch TV and shops that will be included in the final version, the Mac version of Origin behaves and works exactly like the PC version.

To use the Mac version of Origin players will need a computer with OS X 10.6.8, and some of the newer Core 2 Duo processors. Looks like EA is really trying hard to catch up with Steam, they started it with taking over their big titles like Dragon Age and Mass Effect from steam and placing them on Origin. Now they hope this combined with a new client for Mac will bring more users to them. If you want sign up for Alpha go here if you are from the us, or here if you are from the UK.
