Two spammers from Great Britain have received a large penalty for sending spam to mobile phones, according to the BBC. They were given a penalty in the amount of 440,000 pounds. The duo was emitting around 840,000 texts daily through the company they founded to recipients who without a doubt did not want to receive those messages. They "wasted" about 70 SIM cards daily that were connected through the device to the computer and then they used them to spam the messages until they used all available limits.

Daily earnings are estimated in the amount of 7,000 pounds, and spam messages included notice of the potential earnings of £3500 on the basis of accident insurance. “Our message to the public is that if you don't know who sent you a text message then do not respond, otherwise your details may be used to generate profits for these unscrupulous individuals. Together we can put an end to this unlawful industry that continues to plague our daily lives” The Information Commissioner said.

In their defense, the spammers had been told that they had permission to send text messages to such a large number of people, but the court did not recognize it. The British office in charge of these issues is currently leading an investigation against an additional three companies for allegedly sending spam to mobiles.
