Sony launches the a58 SLT

Sony announced their new SLT camera with Translucent Mirror Technology. The new model called the a58 comes with Exmor APS HD CMOS sensor that has a resolution of 20 megapixels. The a58 has sensitivity ranges from ISO 100 to ISO 16,000 (and ISO 25,600 with Multi Frame NR), and a shutter speed of up to five frames per second, and eight photographs per second in Tele-zoom Continuous Advance Priority AE mode.

The a58’s autofocus system with 15 access points is now enriched with new Lock-on autofocus, which quickly and accurately monitors objects. It comes with an OLED Tru-Finder viewfinder with 100-percent coverage of a taken shot, and backlit LCD with a diagonal of 2.7 inches, the image is displayed in 460,000 dots, and can be rotated. Just like other Sony models, this camera has a built-in image stabilizer in the body, an HDMI port, and a slot for SD and Memory Stick Duo memory cards.

The dimensions of the a58 are 129x96x78 mm with a weight of 492 grams for the camera body. Battery life is declared on 690 shots using the Tru-Finder, or to 700 shots using the LCD backlight. The camera will be available for purchase in April, according to an official press release.
