Rockstar wins against Huawei

Chinese Huawei made a deal with the patent consortium Rockstar to avoid a lawsuit for unauthorized use of patents. This is the first of eight device manufacturers with Android which has decided he does not want to be involved in a lawsuit.

Apple and Samsung were the world's largest buyers of chips last year among device manufacturers with total revenues exceeding one billion dollars according to data collected by the company IHS. Apple took the first spot with a total consumption of the chips in the amount of 30.3 billion dollars, while Samsung took second place with $20.2 billion spent on chips.

iWatch delayed because of manufacturing problems

Google strikes back against Rockstar

Google began their defense from Rockstar. They claim that Android does not infringe patents for which they are targeted by patent consortium  Rockstar who is backed by giants like Microsoft and Apple. According to Rockstar, Android violates several patents for which they are claiming the rights, and besides Google in the lawsuit, there are seven of the company's partners, including Samsung and HTC.

Apple fined in Taiwan

Taiwan Trade Commission fined the company Apple with a fine in the amount of $667,000 because of their impact on the price of iPhone products and tariffs that go along with them in the Taiwanese telecommunications operators. Also, they noted that if this practice continues Apple will be punished with a much higher fine in the amount of $1,670,000.

Tim Cook expects big things to happen in 2014

Apple's CEO Tim Cook has sent a lengthy letter to all company's employees in which he presented plans for 2014 and reflected on the successes in the 2013. In addition to the launch of the new iPhone, iOS 7, and two new versions of the iPad, Cook points out that he is particularly proud of the fact that they have started shipping the Mac Pro, which is manufactured in the United States, to be more precise, in Austin, Texas. They also recorded 50 Billionth application download from the AppStore this year, which the company also considered as an extremely great achievement.
