We have already written about the new features that will Windows Phone 8.1 bring, and now it finally did. WP 8.1 OS is now available for download to all who are interested.

We have been covering the emerging technology behind wearable computing and in particular smart watches to get a better grasp on this technology. In our articles we have listed companies like I’m Spa and their I’m Watch, Samsung, Apple and ConnecteDevice Cookoo Watch. We were quickly reminded by our readers that there are others out there and one in particular was mentioned (repeatedly). This is the Pebble Smartwatch.

Spanish manufacturer of mobile phones based on the Firefox OS, Geeksphone, on the first day of the sales sold out all copies of the mobile phones that are now intended primarily for software developers.

Earlier this year Google released its first tablet, the Nexus 7, and now they are asking developers to build more apps optimized for tablets. Today they published a “tablet app quality checklist” on their android developers’ blog. They hope this will help them gain more buyers and with the developers help, they won’t have to worry about not having enough apps for their tablets. Currently there is a really small amount of apps made specifically for tablets. This initiative should bring more of them to the larger displays.

One of my favorite quotes (relating to security) is “what man can lock, man can unlock”. Another quote that I like is “they all break when you apply enough pressure”. Both of these are crucial to an understanding of security as it relates to just about everything. This includes physical security, data security; you name it… if you try to hide it or lock it up someone can get at it with enough time and resources. One place that this is often overlooked is in the department of DRM (Digital Rights Management).

This just in from the Microsoft is being foolish again desk. We have told you that Microsoft is seriously pushing their vision of the PC again. They have dropped all pretenses that the PC is all about you and are now rushing headlong down the tunnel with the thought of monetizing your PC usage with the cloud. To do this they are shoving their new UI Metro down your throat whether you like it or not. There have been some that like Metro calling it sleek and slick. However, while Metro is manageable it is also very dull and lacks any kind of elegance or class. It looks like a kid designed it and like XP brings images of Fischer Price to mind instead of a high-performance operating system.
