Office for iPad marks 12 million downloads

Immediately after the launch of Office for iPad, four applications of this package have reached the top spot by the popularity on the App Store. And with the arrival of new data it seems that the number of downloads is constantly increasing.

One of the major stumbling stones in previous agreements between Apple and Microsoft about licensing the software has been successfully removed. In fact, with yesterday's launch of Office applications for the iPad, financial details of the joint venture become public. According to reports, Apple charges Microsoft as much as 30 % commission from every subscription to Office 365, which is paid via new iOS Office applications.

iTunes gets a selfie category,

After the word "selfie" became so popular that was named word of the year and included in the Oxford dictionary, the term selfie received its section on the Apple's App Store. Within these categories are placed applications that enable users to capture and share their selfies. To further popularized this group of applications, Apple temporarily put the section on the iTunes cover page.

The Decline of Online Music Sales

This year, according to data analyzed by Nielsen SoundScan, in the United States over the Internet was sold 1.01 billion songs, which is a decrease of 4% compared to the 2012. The total number of downloads of digital music content decreased by 1%, while the number of downloads of digital albums grow by 2% compared to last year.

Flickr update for iOS brings new features

The company Yahoo has announced a new update of Flickr photo app for iOS devices. With it Flickr becomes something more than just a photo viewer. They added the possibility that was once available in service Instagram. Real time display of image preview with appliqued filter, before the app even performed postprocessing and updated the photo.

Yesterday we reported on a breach in Apple’s developer portal. This breach appears to have happened over the course of about three days and resulted in Apple pulling the entire system offline for redesign. At the time of the article (which can be found here) no one had claimed responsibility Apple had not pointed the finger at anyone. Now it seems that a Turkish security researcher is claiming responsibility for the hack, but is saying that he was only looking for bugs in the system to show Apple that the portal was leaking user data.
