Nintendo Wii U games for 60 Dollars

WiiU

Nintendo has disproved speculation that games for their new console, Nintendo Wii U, will cost $100. Right now the price should be $59.99 which is a $10 increase from games that were made for the first generation Wii console. Nintedno director of product marketing Bill Trinen said that they will have prices on par with games for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The $100 prices could be found on Amazon and GameStop for various Wii U games, such as Pikmin 3, New Super Mario Bros. U, Just Dance 4 and Lego City Undercover. But Nintendo said that those are mere speculation.

The console was available in Europe and Japan since July 28th, but NA customers had to be a bit more patient. It will be available for $200 which is already $50 cheaper than the PlayStation Vita. Nintendo announced the 3DS XL back in June and everyone assumed that Nintendo would redesign it, maybe add another thumb pad, since it only has one unlike popular controllers today.

Sony determined on PS Vita price

Sony decided not to make the same move Nintendo made when their 3DS sales were going bad.  Instead of cutting their prices they will try to attract people to the Vita with cheap bundles, “At a certain point in the future we would like to address the pricing issue for some of the people who are waiting. But this year we are trying to add value by creating different types of bundles. We announced we will provide LittleBigPlanet PS Vita bundle pack. That’s affordable for people who are looking for a good deal.“ Sony Wordlwide Studioes president Shuhei Yoshida said.

Even industrial giants like nintendo cannot escape the side effects of the global financial crisis. After having a rough time in last few quarters, including facing profit loss, Nintendo has decided to push the release of the Wii U game console back to December (2012). Beside the monetary issues many feel that Nintendo is to blame for their older hardware and lack of innovation in video games. At one time Nintendo had some of the most popular games in gaming history such as; Legend of Zelda (the Main character is not Zelda but Link), the Super Mario series and Donkey Kong. You just cannot consider yourself a gamer if you havent played any of these, but they are a prime example that you can’t live forever on old fame.

Sony_logo2It looks like Sony is gearing up to fight Microsoft head to head in the cloud gaming business. We have heard today that hot on the heels of Google’s I/O Developer conference Gaikai, Inc. is being bought out by Sony. For those of you that either missed Google I/O or have no idea who Gaikai is we can fill you in on a few details. Gaikai is a leading company in cloud based gaming. Cloud gaming is becoming a big push with many game publishing companies as they feel that it helps to cut down on piracy as well as capitalize on the revenue stream of monthly payments like Netflix, Hulu and even HBO are doing now.

Wii Fit Balance Board finds new and fun use

WiiFitBalanceBoardOk I thought this was pretty cool. While cruising around I stumbled across this hack for the Balance Board that comes with the Nintendo Wii Fit game. It seems some people with a lot more time on their hands than the rest of us (but with some serious brain power) came up with a way to use the Wii Balance board to literally “walk” through Google street view. This inspiration came after a seven hour marathon of modding.

They did have to use OSX and some extra Java applications to communicate back and forth but the end result look very promising. I am willing to bet the Executives at Nintendo are drafting letters and offers as I am typing.
