The organization Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) announced their concern that the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is planning in the near future to have a visual database with photographs of people's faces.

Instead of the more usual changing of their privacy terms once again, Facebook this time decided on a different approach and simply improve existing privacy features. They began testing three new options which will try to accomplish that. New options have been designed on the basis of nearly 4,000 daily testing that Facebook implemented in 27 different languages.

Google has paid one million euros fine handed down to him by the Italian Authority for the protection of privacy (Garant per la protezione dei give personali) after complaints that their cars used to capture the surrounding area for the Street View were not clearly marked.

On Monday at the South by Southwest show infamous NSA whistle blower Edward Snowden talk via a live video conference. By all accounts the hall where the conference was held was packed as people were very interested to hear what Snowden had to say. For those of you that might not know, or need reminding Edward Snowden was a contractor to the NSA and is responsible for leaking information about multiple, highly-classified and potentially illegal (unconstitutional) surveillance programs being run on US Citizens and also on foreign diplomats.

One of them comes from smartphone company FreedomPop and it's called Privacy Phone. Devices that protect privacy often come at a hefty price, but Privacy Phone corrects this complaint and will arrive on the market with a price tag of $189.

After Facebook bought WhatsApp many users have wondered how the privacy of the messages send will now be governed. Although Facebook is not yet fully responsible for this application, a new version (2.11.169) arrives that will bring new opportunities in terms of privacy. With the new settings, you can specify who can see get the infamous “Last Seen” status, your profile photo, and your status. At WhatsApp took into account that these three options are separated, and each one can be separately adjusted.
