Jolla, a Finnish company founded by former Nokia employees, has announced that they are prepared to issue a full commercial version of their operating system Sailfish which will be numbered 1.0.

LTE network speeds in the U.S. on the decline

In a study conducted by the company OpenSignal in sixteen countries, it was found that the fastest mobile network in the territory of the United States (4G LTE network) is slower than the competition from neighboring Mexico, Brazil and Russia.

Taiwanese company Acer has introduced two new models of smart phones that will come at affordable prices. Acer Liquid E3 has a 4.7 inch 720p IPS screen, quad-core processor clocked at 1.2 GHz, 1 GB of RAM and 4 GB of internal memory for data storage. The rear camera is a 13 megapixel with Acer's super-fast focus and f/1.8 aperture. The operating system is an older version of Android, 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. Upgrade to Android 4.4 KitKat for this device should appear by the end of this year.

Smartphone and digital device theft is a pretty big deal according to many statistics out there. It is a pretty easy crime when you think about it: grab someone’s phone and run. Even if they wipe all their personal data you can always sell the phone to someone that can reactivate it. There have been many suggestions for how to combat this type of crime, some more effective than others. However, the one that now seems to be rearing its ugly head more frequently is the concept of a kill-switch embedded into all smartphones that would allow a device to be permanently disabled by remote command and all personal data wiped.

How about a 300 Mbps mobile internet speed?

Mobile Internet access in Korea becomes even faster. The local mobile operator SK Telecom has announced up to 300 Mbps via 3band LTE-Advanced. For comparison, conventional LTE offers a theoretical approach speed of 75 megabits, while LTE Advanced offers 150 megabits per second.
