Even though Mozilla quite early announced the availability of their Firefox browser, published for the Modern UI on Windows 8, looks like some problems got in the way. Although the original development should be completed this year, as it now seems, however, finalized version will not appear until next year.

It seems that Apple's launch of iPhone 5S device, the first smartphone with a 64-bit processor initiated a new trend on the market. Apple iPhone 5S as it is known brings its own 64-bit A7 processor with more than 1 billion transistors and a new 64-bit operating system, iOS 7.

The impact of Edward Snowden is still being felt on a daily basis and is even growing due to the continued release of information in the form of classified slides from the NSA. In recent months the information coming out of these slides has been quite alarming and ranges from the fact that the NSA wrote the standard for most of the encryption used today to being able to break into our smartphones and harvest information almost at will. Of particular interest to the NSA was (and still is) the Apple iPhone. This is interesting simply because Apple has always touted the iPhone as more secure than everyone else’s. Of course, every other phone is still vulnerable to NSA eavesdropping, but the iPhone appeared to be much more vulnerable and had specific details listed in the slides released so far.

Microsoft’s investors are signaling that they are ready for change and they want someone who can facilitate that change to be the next CEO. You can see this desire in the suggestions that they have put forward to the Board; Ford CEO Alan Mulally while another potential replacement is Computer Sciences Corporation CEO Mike Lawrie. At least this is the going rumor after Yahoo published an article citing an unnamed source (aren’t they always?).

Although Steve Ballmer is leaving Microsoft they have made statements that the company will continue to follow the plans he laid out for it; at least for the near future. Remember that Ballmer decided to cut the company back to only 4 divisions and decided to put people in charge of these divisions that are already running departments that are less than successful at this point. We have already given our analysis on these moves but want to remind you that most of these moves are intended to bolster Ballmer’s plans for Microsoft. But will Microsoft really follow these plans to the letter? We have a feeling that they will not once Steve is gone.

With the words, "There is never a perfect time for this type of transition, but now is the right time“ Microsoft executive Steve Ballmer has announced his departure from the head position of the company where he arrived 13 years ago when Bill Gates announced that he has decided to retire and pursue other life goals.

Last week, there have been information that HTC is leaving Windows Phone, and apparently with the aim to engage with the development of devices for Android market. Rumors were denied on twitter by the company's PR saying they were absolutely committed to their line of Windows Phone products.

From time to time, some new ergonomic keyboards and mice appe  for which their manufacturers claim to represent the most perfect periphery that keeps our joints healthy and allows for long work sessions or playing on the computer.

Gartner's predictions for the 2013 are not in favor of Acer. According to their report they expected a decline of Acer's share in a PC market by 44 percent compared to the 2012, which is the biggest drop among all the leading vendors in the business that still stumbles. In fact, the only exception is Lenovo which is projected to grow by 11 percent on a Windows PC market.

When Microsoft first announced their Surface tablet and their intention to become a “devices and services” company the market had a moment of clarity. Here was a situation where a huge partner in the PC business looked to be turning their backs on all of the companies that once supported them. We heard from multiple vendors and all agreed that the move by Microsoft to be secretly developing their own product after viewing all of their submissions was seriously underhanded.  What made things even more disappointing for OEM partners was that Microsoft was also pushing them to sell their cloud services on top of directly competing with them. It was not a happy time for most OEMs, but the majority of them decided to give it a chance and see if Steve Ballmer’s vision would pay off in the end.
