We visit Rocstor during CES 2012 and come away with a new wish list...

Reading time is around minutes.

CAmphibious-1-mdES 2012 Las Vegas, Nevada – During our time on the show floor we stopped by a company called Rocstor. If you have not heard of them, then you should check them out. They manufacture external drives. Now, that is not a big deal if the drive in question is just a normal drive. However the products we saw at the Rocstor booth were anything but ordinary.

We kicked things off with a portable HDD that was simply cool. This was the Amphibious 7X (which won a 2012 innovation award). The 7X is a ruggedized drive that has hardware based AES 256 bit encryption with real-time encryption and decryption. To get access to your data you have to use both a smart card and a pin number. Once you do get the drive up you can boot off of it or use it for data access.  The enclosure is capable of supporting up to a 1TB drive (HDD or SSD) and has both USB and Firewire connections.

After that Anthony Rink (VP of Sales US and Canada) showed us a few more of Rocstor’s drives including two additional encrypted drives. I would tell you about them, but it might be better if I let Anthony tell you about them himself.
