Xiaomi first to launch a smartphone with Tegra 4 SoC

Chinese Xiaomi unveiled Android smartphone Mi3, the first such device powered by Nvidia's Tegra 4 chipset. Smartphone with other specifications also enters the upper segment of the market, and will be available in one more version with a processor Qualcomm Snapdragon 800.

Nvidia Tegra 4 SoC, codenamed Wayne, has four ARM Cortex-A15 core clocked at 1.8 GHz (4+1 design) and a GeForce GPU with 72 stream processors. The processor is accompanied by 2Gb of LPDDR3 RAM. In addition, Mi3 has a 5 inch Full HD screen with 441 ppi, 13-megapixel back-camera (Sony Exmor R CMOS sensor), NFC and 16 to 64 GB of internal flash memory.


The battery capacity is 3050 mAh, which, according to Xiaomi should be sufficient for at least one day of intensive use. Sales in China starts in October at a price of about $330 (16GB) and $410 (64 GB), but Mi3 by the end of the year should be available across the international markets and in both versions with Tegra 4 and Snapdragon 800 SoC's. Prices for the international market are not yet known.
