Yahoo acquires startup company Wander, gets visual diary Days

Reading time is around minutes.

Yahoo has acquired startup company Wander which is behind the application Days. It is a form of personal visual diary. Users can set their photos and animated GIFs in one package during the day. The idea is to give the photo some extra context which is often not the case when images are individually mounted on services like Instagram.

The application has been available exclusively for iOS devices so far. This purchase is part of Yahoo's long-term strategy which seeks to improve their mobile applications. Five Wander employees joined the mobile department of Yahoo which was credited with, among other things, the recently introduced redesigned Flickr, Mail and Weather applications. Application Days will continue to operate as a standalone product.

In addition to maintaining and improving current Days, Wander's  team within Yahoo will develop some new products and services.
