At an event in New York, LG's new flaghship smart mobile phone has been unveiled. The LG G2 is based on 2.26 gigahertz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor with Adreno 330 graphics subsystem and Full HD IPS LCD screen with a diagonal of 5.2-inches that extends almost to the edge of the device. There is also support for a mobile network based on LTE-Advanced technology, rear view camera with a resolution of 13 megapixels, 16 or 32 GB of storage and 2GB of RAM, a battery capacity of 3,000 mAh, and the operating system will be Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean.

g2Perhaps the most interesting detail is the key set on the back which is used for various functions, such as changing the volume, launching certain applications or cameras. There are also a variety of additional software features, such as the mode for guests that allows someone to borrow the device, but restrict his access to personal data.

The G2 also supports the ability to "wake" the device by double-clicking (or tapping) on the screen, and includes support for the movement on the screen with three fingers. Information about price and availability of the device has not been disclosed.

[Ed – LG's return to the upper end of the smartphone market is something that is sure to shake things up a bit. However, they might have a job convicing consumers to trust them with thier new phone. It will take some creative marketing that might include incentives to the consimer to get the ball rolling for them again as even neat features will not do much if you have been away from the game for any length of time. We do wonder how Samsung, Nokia, HTC and others will respond though.]
