Microsoft's new operating system for personal computers posted a small increase in February compared to January, but is still only fourth in popularity behind Windows 7, XP, and Vista. Overall in February, 2.67% of the total global Internet traffic recorded by the company NetApplications was related to Windows 8.

Microsoft will soon expand the global availability of their Surface RT and Surface Pro tablets. The company announced on their official blog the launch of Surface RT tablets in several new markets in late March, and better availability of Surface Pro devices in the coming months.

Lately there have been some rumors going around saying that Valve plans to fire some of their employees, and now Gamasutra brought news that on Monday they fired 25 workers. After contacting the recently laid-off, one gets the impression that this relegation had nothing to do with the individual's work, but global challenges Valve is faced with.

Sony's vice president of home entertainment, Hiroshi Sakamoto, in his statement to the Chilean website Emol, gave some clues that the PlayStation 4 could be presented before this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), which takes place in June.

It looks like Acer plans to launch a new tablet. The unit price of this new tablet should not exceed $ 100, which will align the device with the cheapest Android tablets that are out on the market. However, a low price does not mean that the device itself will be bad; on the contrary it's a pretty decent bang for buck.

These days the game makers at Rubicon have joined many disgruntled developers that are less than happy with the new Windows. Rubicon is saying they have spent more than $16,000 in porting their games to Windows 8, but then posted sales of only $84. However, that's not the situation with all software developers that have tried the new OS. One example is a company called Extended Results, which in a blog post stated that their business application PUSHBI going great.

The Well-known U.S. company Puget Systems, which sells "adjusted" PC's for their users, says that their customers that buy new computers more often choose Windows 7 than the latest Windows OS, Windows 8. [This is in keeping with some prelimiary information we have seen on downgrades – Ed]

The Windows Store has over 20,000 applications as announced by the Win App Update on their twitter feed. Of this number, according to the unofficial data, 87% are free of charge. Speaking at a London Game Conference, a Microsoft marketing manager Andrew Webber revealed another fact -  until recently the Windows Store had fewer than 1,500 games (at the time of writing the text 1,615), in the category of racing there are only 13 of them.

Although Steven Sinofsky successfully led Microsoft's important projects, a few days ago he left under unusual circumstances. If you ask Microsoft, the decision was mutual and Microsoft claims that Sinosky was not expelled from the company. However, according to rumors current Microsoft President Steve Ballmer had enough and wanted to get rid of Sinosky.

If Microsoft was hoping for Windows 8 to pour out of the stores like water they might be in for a big surprise. According to initial retail store estimates the sales of Windows 8, while better than Windows 7 during the same time frame, are not as good as Microsoft would have liked. Most analysts are showing stores meeting expectation in Windows 8 OS and hardware sales, but nothing extraordinary. What makes this very interesting is that many devices are out of stock including Microsoft’s ARM –Based Surface tablet. From a logistical standpoint this would not appear to make much sense unless these products were not seeded heavily.
